LIFESTREAM EARNS
CERTIFICATION WITH DISTINCTION FOR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE TIME
April
2008
LifeStream,
Inc. was recently reviewed and approved by the Massachusetts Department
of Mental Retardation (DMR) for renewed certification of its services.
LifeStream achieved its fourth consecutive "Two Year License and Certification
with Distinction." It is the highest level of accreditation that can
be awarded to an organization. The
certification underscores LifeStream's significant contribution to the
state's mission of creating innovative and genuine opportunities for
individuals to participate fully and meaningfully in their communities
as valued members.
The
Department of Mental Retardation's Office of Quality Enhancement periodically
reviews the services delivered by providers in Massachusetts. The QUEST
(Quality Enhancement Survey Tool) process gathers information from clients
on the quality of a provider's services in six key areas: respect and
dignity, individual control, community membership, relationships, personal
growth and accomplishments, and personal well-being.
According
to DMR's report, "The agency is congratulated for its accomplishment
of achieving a Two-Year License and Certification with Distinction for
the fourth consecutive time. The continued commitment to supporting
individuals to have rich and full lives through recruiting and maintaining
highly trained and competent support staff are the key factors in the
agency's remarkable consistency in delivering quality supports. This
sense of commitment to individuals and support staff, combined with
the agency's strong organizational planning, should continue to provide
a strong framework on which the agency can maintain and enrich future
supports."
The
continuing Distinction comes as no surprise to John Latawiec, LifeStream's
President & CEO. He credits staff for making a difference in the lives
of people every day. "Throughout its history, LifeStream has been committed
to enhancing the lives of disabled people, enriching the community,
and advancing the field of human services. We've expanded considerably
to provide various types of residential, employment, day habilitation,
educational, and community integration supports. We appreciate DMR's
review and recognition of our hard work. LifeStream's dedicated staff
is the foundation of our success. I am grateful to all of our employees
for doing their jobs well and delivering the best programs in the field.
As always, LifeStream will continue to support, encourage, and insist
on all people having the right to live personally meaningful lives,"
said Latawiec.
