LIFESTREAM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE SANDRA M. CABRAL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

LifeStream, Inc. is accepting applications for the Sandra M. Cabral Nursing Scholarship. The scholarship was established in 2000 to honor the significant contribution made by Sandra Cabral to the quality of life for community members with disabilities. Ms. Cabral, an R.N., was a Nursing Coordinator of LifeStream.

The purpose of the scholarship is to enhance the quality of medical support available to people with disabilities living in community settings throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. The $1,500 scholarship is awarded to one student annually.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Students must be pursuing a Registered Nurse (RN) Degree
• Students must be attending a local college or university
• Students must demonstrate a firm commitment to working with people with disabilities in community-based settings at the present time or upon graduation
• Preference will be given to residents of the greater New Bedford area, including the towns of Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Gosnold, Marion, Mattapoisett, New Bedford, Rochester, and Wareham.

In addition to the one-page application and statement of financial need, a 250 word essay is required. The essay should reflect the applicant's commitment to people with developmental disabilities and the intention to utilize their degree to enhance the quality of life for community members with disabilities after graduation.

All applicants must submit an official post secondary transcript along with the application. Applications received without a transcript will be considered incomplete.
