APPOINTS NEW DIRECTORS TO BOARD

LifeStream,
Inc. announced today the appointment of three community members to its
Board of Directors.
Sheila
Parker McGlinchey is the Sales & Marketing Director of Southcoast Media
Group in New Bedford. Parker McGlinchey began her career at The Boston
Herald as a student at Boston College. After working in the publication/advertising
field in New York and Virginia, Parker McGlinchey returned to Southeastern
Massachusetts in 1992 to focus on her work with the local media including
The Standard Times. She serves as an advocate for disabled adults including
her brother who has lived independently for the past 15 years. Parker
McGlinchey's previous volunteer work included helping people with both
physical and cognitive disabilities. She is looking forward to serving
on the Board of Directors for LifeStream. "I feel privileged to serve
in a role that would help enhance the lives of those less fortunate,"
she said.
Sandria
Parsons is an educator and advocate whose work has changed the way people
think about education. Ms. Parsons began her teaching career in the
Plymouth Elementary Schools. She left that position in 1998 to co-found
the South Coast Learning Network, a community education nonprofit. She
is currently a partner in the New Bedford based Learning Network Associates
Inc. and is working on several media projects to connect education to
communities. "Thinking about new ways to educate people inspires me.
I believe a person's quality of life is directly tied to learning and
discovery. New Bedford is rich in community resources. I am excited
to be a part of the LifeStream Board. I see so many opportunities for
individuals and staff to learn and grow personally and professionally,"
Parsons said.
John
Vasconcellos is the Director of Development for the Coalition for Buzzard's
Bay. A native of New Bedford, Vasconcellos began his career at the Chase
Manhattan Bank's Private Banking Division in New York and California.
He moved to back to the region 2003 to lead the protection, restoration,
and sustainable use of Buzzards Bay and its watershed. Vasconcellos
is passionate about the revitalization of the region and is committed
to promoting environmental and community based projects. He is an active
member of New Bedford ACTS (A Community Together Succeeds) and advocates
for equal rights and opportunities for all community members. "I was
very struck by the professionalism and direction of LifeStream. It serves
a very important population in our communities and the organization's
mission is synonymous with my values-respect, advocacy, and providing
the best quality of life for people throughout the region."
