LIFESTREAM AND ITS BEGINNINGS

LifeStream, Inc., formerly New Bedford Harbor Services Inc., provides a wide range of human services that enrich the lives and productivity of people throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. Based in New Bedford, LifeStream is a non-profit organization with over 30 years experience in assisting community residents with:

Founded in 1976 as New Bedford Harbor Services by parents of handicapped children, the organization originally offered community based services where none existed. Today, LifeStream is an integral part of the community with substantial funding support from the MA Department of Mental Retardation, MA Rehabilitation Commission, MA Department of Medical Assistance, Department of Transitional Assistance and other sources. LifeStream is a caring, critical link between its consumers and the business community and is one of the area's largest employers with over 400 full and part time employees.

LifeStream is licensed by: CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, the MA Department of Mental Retardation, and applicable local regulations. Our service area includes Southeastern Massachusetts. We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization licensed in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

LifeStream, Inc. provides a wide range of human services to enrich lives and promote independence for residents throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.

LifeStream envisions towns and cities across Massachusetts where all people facing developmental or economic barriers are afforded the opportunity to participate fully and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

We will build on our reputation of thirty years as a committed and well-respected provider of innovative, quality community-based human services.

We will thoughtfully and selectively pursue appropriate opportunities to expand the breadth and depth of program offerings in our region, without compromising our mission or program quality.
